Fall Winter 2019 - ALMOST CUT MY HAIR

On Wednesday, The Incorporated presented their seventh collection via their second ever fashion show. The show, titled ALMOST CUT MY HAIR, references the song of the same name, released in 1970 by Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. The song describes the dilemma faced by many of the hippies, who were often recognizable by their long hair: to cut that hair to fit in with mainstream society or to leave it long as an act of rebellion. In 2019, this decision takes a different form, and is explored through this show and collection. ALMOST CUT MY HAIR..looks at whether a true counterculture even really exists anymore. Today, it seems as though it is more possible (and acceptable) than ever to make art, and be paid well for it. Is it selling out if you get to make what you love for a living?
